It would seem that the lighter, the better.

We follow this rule in only 2 cases:

-biking trips

-hiking trips

If we set off on a trip in our Land Cruiser, we always take cast iron cookware.

A large cast iron pot is the basis for preparing all hot meals.

PROS:

-It is very durable.

-Saves energy needed to maintain temperature

-Meals are tasty

CONS:

-it's better if it doesn't fall on your foot Adding a lightweight steel pan to your cookware set can be a good solution.

NOTE!

Both cast iron and steel cookware require preparation before first use.

How to prepare new cast iron cookware?

After rinsing the new dishes with water, grease them with a thin layer of baking oil inside and outside and put them in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes

This method does not apply to enameled cast iron dishes. Weight is key in cycling expeditions

The conditions in which we prepare meals vary widely - from comfortable tables to a tent to a snow pit on winter expeditions to the mountains.

No matter what the level of difficulty of the next expedition, we always take with us a kit for preparing good, aromatic coffee :)

Of course, it's most convenient to prepare meals when you're traveling with all your gear packed in the car.
